A body of work about the city as inheritance, pressure, and chosen future. The series moves from the map beneath New York, to the moment the city had to carry strangers, to a future where public systems finally keep the people who make the city alive.
Who Owns the Map? is the inherited city. The City Carried Us is the tested city. The City Kept Us is the chosen city.
Together they ask a single question: when New York tells the truth about itself, who becomes visible?
New York from Lenapehoking through 2026. Indigenous land and water memory, Black American history, Ellis Island, global migration, neighborhood identity, transit, flags, and the contemporary skyline overlap rather than resolve into clean borders.
When New York maps itself, who becomes visible, and who disappears?
A World Trade Center memorial centered on absence, service, and collective responsibility rather than spectacle. The work remembers the moments when New Yorkers carried people they did not know.
Strength lives in the decision to reach for another person.
A future New York where transit, housing, resilient shorelines, schools, libraries, clinics, markets, clean energy, art, and local manufacturing are measured by human life rather than skyline height.
The future is not a smarter skyline. It is a city that works for human life.
